Design for environment

The goal of Design for Environment is to reduce the impact of the product throughout its life cycle, from procurement of material, through manufacturing, transport and use to the handling of residual product.

Design for Environment (DfE) integrates environmental considerations into the product design and development process.  Using DfE tools improve the environmental performance of products while reducing costs, improving competitiveness, and stimulating innovation. Successful DfE practices in product design and development balance environmental considerations with cost, performance, safety, functionality and quality criteria.

The focus areas are:

Energy efficiency, exhaust emission and noise
Decreasing the energy required to operate Husqvarna products and reducing the exhaust and noise emissions.

Materials innovation
Incorporating materials that have less environmental impact, reducing the volume of material, coordinate the different materials used in these products, including the selection of packaging material.

Design for recycelment
Developing products that are simpler to upgrade and/or recycle at their end of life.
