Employee story: Patrick Birgander, Human Resources Director, Group Talent Management

Patrick Birgander

On the job training has been a key part of my development within the company. Having new challenges keeps me motivated and allows me to develop my skills and competences without the need of changing job every other year. The opportunities for global networking and the close links between top management and the rest of the organization are particularly rewarding.

I came to Husqvarna because I wanted to work with consumer products in a company with a strong brand. It was also important for me that the company has high ethical standards and appealing core values

Opportunities and challenges

On the job training has been a key part of my development within the company. Having new challenges keeps me motivated and allows me to develop my skills and competences without the need of changing job every other year.

Husqvarna is quite a young company in some areas, so there is room for improvement and challenges wherever you look - for an ambitious person there are always exciting and interesting new things to do. The opportunities for global networking and the close links between top management and the rest of the organization are particularly rewarding.

International dimension and work environment

I've been working in global roles for the last ten years and I think I would be bored without the daily challenge of navigating between local legislation and practice, and the need to build global HR solutions. We are working towards creating a One Husqvarna culture which offers similar working experiences for all our employees around the world and that is an exciting international challenge.

The working environment here is very hands on, problem solving and participatory. It is easy to get things done and have clear decisions made. Our core values are Customer first, Professionalism and Team working, and our motto is "With passion and a sense of urgency". We are focusing on ensuring that our internal solutions and our end customer experience are consistent and of high quality.

If you come to work for Husqvarna you need to be self-driven. You have to have an idea of what you want to do and contribute. If a person has that and maintains an open dialog with their manager, I'm confident that they will feel welcome, comfortable, and challenged working in Husqvarna.
